Please take a moment and reach out to these legislative leaders with the following talking points:

• Do not slash the cosmetology board’s budget in a new state government budget agreement.
• Cutting the Cosmetology Board’s budget endangers the public’s safety.  Necessary inspections to address serious health matters regarding infection control and proper sanitation practices at salons would be negatively impacted and seriously jeopardize the health of Minnesotans.
• Cosmetology has over 30,000 licensees statewide and is a service that must be properly regulated due to the chemicals and devices we use daily on clients.
• All existing cosmetology license fees fully fund the current Cosmetology Board budget.
• Licensees, like myself, accepted fee increases in 2015 to achieve the existing budget.  Reducing the Board’s budget is a disservice to this investment salon professionals made and agreed to.
• Please fully restore existing funding to the Cosmetology Board for the next biennium in your current negotiations with Governor Dayton for the state government finance bill.

Don’t forget to identify yourself, home town, and role within cosmetology (practitioner, educator, manager, etc.).  Please consider sharing this with clients and encourage their participation as well.

Please stay tuned for further developments in the upcoming days ahead.

Thank you for your participation and immediate attention to this critical matter!
