One of the marquee’ events at INsalon 2010 is the Student Hair Competitions. Since its inception, the Student Competitions showcase the talent of up and coming stylists in our industry. With bragging rights of coveted titles as Champions, cash awards and beautiful crystal trophies, MNSPPA’s INsalon Student Hair Competitions are ranked among the top student competition venues in the U.S. This year’s competitions promise to bring the usual excitement, glamour and talent of competitors and models. Additional placements and awards have been added to award the many deserving competitors and models.
To evaluate the hard work of competitors and their models, a qualified group of judges must be present to ensure an accurate and fair assessment. The MN Salon & Spa Professional Association will be hosting a two-session Judging Certification Seminar to train qualified professionals to serve as judges, sages and competition committee members to serve at this year's INsalon Student Hair Competitions. No matter if you are a seasoned competitor or someone who has always wanted to get involved in competitions, or if this sparks your interest, this seminar is for YOU!
Individuals must commit to attend and participate at both sessions and agree to accept competition assignments at this year’s INsalon Student Hair Competitions. World class hairdressing competition champions and trainers Danny Ewert and Steven Lai will be leading you through the certification process.
Participants must be a member of PBA|NCA to participate and to serve as judges, sages, and on the competition committee. All proceeds from the seminar will be directed to the competition fund.
Cosmetology instructors and licensed cosmetology school personnel are encouraged to participate. What better way to learn and help your students become successful competitors!
(Please note: This does not certify you to judge in other venues, however, you will learn the skills needed to be an effective cosmetology industry competition judge.no matter where you are judging.)

Session I, Sunday 9/12, 1-3 PM, AVEDA INSTITUTE, MINNEAPOLIS
- Understanding the judging process
- Judging with speed and accuracy
- 30 point judging system
- Analyzing the winning design
- Judging fair and impartial
- Mannequin assignments
Session II, Saturday 10/16, 4:30 - 7:30 PM, SAINT PAUL RIVERCENTRE
- Mock judging of participant designed mannequins
- Scoring evaluation
- Competition assignments

Member Registration fee: $100 per person for both sessions - includes mannequin and workbook.
Non-member Registration fee: $215 per person for both sessions - includes PBA|NCA membrship, mannequin and workbook.
