This seven hour session is specifically designed for cosmetology, esthetics and nail technology instructors to learn the teaching skills they need to succeed in the classroom.

BILL WYER  Crisscrossing the country to inspire teachers, hair designers and salon owners alike, Bill Wyer excels as an educator.  "All my life I wanted to teach.  In one of the first classes I attended as a professional, the presenter said, 'Education sets you free,' and I've never forgotten it."  Since then, Bill's goal has been to "set learners free" with new information, techniques and motivation for instructors to take back to their schools and students.  He consistently brings to every class the knowledge he has gained from over 25 years in the cosmetology school business.  Bill continues to deliver his message while educating teachers in the exploration and use of Pivot Point's textbook.

Mindful Teaching 301—ENGAGING LEARNER THINKING  The main message of this dynamic educational session is that the joy of teaching is enhanced when teachers and students engage in meaningful, relevant and interesting dialogue about the content. Mindful Teaching 301 is a seminar designed to help teachers incorporate instructional strategies for delivering interactive lectures that inspire students to understand - not memorize - information that is presented.  The Delivery Phase of Teaching is at the core of this educational session.  Exchanging ideas, probing with questions and affirming understanding are the primary strategies.  The seminar will also offer instruction on:  defining; explaining; relating; recapping; clarifying; discussing and summarizing information during a lecture.  Instructors will receive 7 hours of teaching method CE credits.
