This seven hour session is specifically designed for cosmetology instructors to learn the teaching skills they need to succeed in the classroom.

Supporting Learner Performance—This Pivot Point program provides instruction on ideas and strategies teachers can use to help each other incorporate thoughtful practice (application) and informative feedback (assessment) into their classroom routines. Key points that will be highlighted include: high-involvement, guided practice; tests and performance assessment; feedback; self-testing and reflection. Teachers will learn to provide time for students to work collaboratively to explain, interpret, apply and test what they are learning, enabling them to retain the knowledge they acquire. Special attention is also given to the implementation of flexible learning groups to build knowledge-rich environments that engage students in a variety of individual and collaborative learning tasks.

Field Educator ALLISON BARKER is responsible for providing educational services to Member Schools and the general market mainly throughout the U.S. Allison began her work in the salon as a stylist, which led her to become an assistant manager, apprentice leader, education director and color specialist. Allison has also served as a team lead, a classroom educator and has participated in a NAHA team shoot.  Instructors will receive 7 hours of teaching method CE credits.
